Why an early evaluation matters
Neck and back pain from a crash often shows up or gets worse over the following days. An evaluation records what happened and what you feel while the details are fresh, and it gives you a treatment plan and a work status note describing what you can safely do.
What CAN does
A coordinator takes your call, asks about the crash and your symptoms, and schedules you with a licensed provider for chiropractic care, physical therapy, pain management or imaging. CAN keeps the appointments and paperwork organized. The providers deliver the treatment and make every clinical decision.
How the care is paid for
When treatment is for a work injury, Illinois law directs the provider to bill the employer directly. For a covered injury, the provider may not bill the worker for the difference between its charge and what the employer or its insurer paid.
A crash while working can involve workers' compensation and, in some situations, a separate claim involving another driver. Which applies to you is a legal question for a lawyer.
What to have ready when you call
- The date and location of the crash
- Your employer's name and address
- Any claim number or insurer information you have been given
- A list of what hurts and when it started
